Summary

At Heylo, I was the first designer tasked with enhancing the product, branding, design system, and marketing assets. Working closely with the founders, co-founder, and developers, I led various design projects, including redesigns, improving user flow, and developing new features from concept to launch. This involved incorporating insights from user interview, stories, and reviews.

App Redesign

A major part of my work involved redesigning the product app's flow and user interface. Collaborating with the founders and developers, we explored various ideas and iterations, encountering challenges and limitations due to developer constraints. This led to multiple design changes and workarounds to adjust the flow and screens accordingly.

Group onboarding

The group onboarding project aimed to enhance two crucial user experiences: creating a group and receiving a group invitation. The redesign efforts focused on standardizing components across the platform, improving the visual hierarchy, and enhancing the group invitation experience to make it feel more personalized and distinctive for invitees.

Event

The Heylo event redesign concentrated on enhancing two primary areas: improving the event form and refining member registration. We introduced a cost breakdown feature for event forms to provide clarity on payment details. Additionally, we explored different registration options, taking into account development constraints regarding adding/removing guests and editing registrations when designing the UI/UX.

Chatroom

The chatroom underwent a significant redesign to enhance the user interface, aligning it with modern social app platforms like Facebook, iMessage, and WhatsApp. I collaborated closely with the team to develop new features from concept to launch, expanding Heylo's toolset based on user requests and needs. Recent features launched include private topics, a new @announce command, and a redesigned chat input user experience.

Features

I also worked on designing a multitude of new features for Heylo. Below are some of the launched features I've worked on from conception to launch:

Crafted the user experience for generating a image from the Heylo app itself Designed the experience around the newly launched feature called roles for better member organization. Designed the experience for members and admins to generate a poll within a topic or event chatroom. Designed the experience for the newly launched @annnounce command. Designed the user interface and user experience for the newly implemented notificaiton center

app store

The app store screenshots were redesigned to update the visual appearance and communication, aligning them with the refreshed Heylo design to better appeal to users.

Design System

The objective of redesigning the design system was to enhance tap targets, ensure consistent sizing, and improve discoverability, branding, and scalability for new product features. Below highlights a portion of the redesigned components for Heylo.

Heylo bottom call to action app bar component redesigned to match the branding Heylo bottom navbar used within group pages to help users navigate between different tabs. Heylo bottom sheet used in a variety of places. It is also utilized in areas where development were limited to this only option. Heylo chat input redesign to work with newly added features such as polls. Heylo chips were built to help assist with the new feature and implementation of roles in addition to help guide and aid with filtering out certain contents. Heylo call to action buttons redesigned to match Heylo's existing branding. Heylo list components used often when listing out members within a event, topic, directory and so forth. Heylo search input redesigned to improve the visual communication and interaction behavior for a better user experience.
