Heylo helps community leaders manage groups of any size with tools for
payments, event planning, group chats, documentation, and check-ins.
Through virtual and in-person research sessions, we learned how
leaders run their communities, identified pain points, and uncovered
opportunities to make Heylo more intuitive and impactful for both
leaders and members.
Design System
We built a design system with a defined color palette, grid, and components to bring consistency and improve the overall user experience.
Groups
Since group leaders and community members are the core of Heylo, we focused on building key features to enhance every community onboarded to the platform.




Group Profile
Group profiles were key to community identity, and the redesign focused on capturing the vibe, showcasing members, sharing events, and clearly communicating what the group is about.




Leaders & Members Onboarding
We saw drop-offs and conflicts during onboarding, so we redesigned the flow to reduce inputs and simplify how leaders and members join groups.




Events
The original event form hid key features, so we redesigned it to include payments, roles, waitlists, size limits, and tickets—helping leaders streamline event creation and stay engaged on the platform.

We overhauled the event registration flow to support new features, letting users select and purchase tickets, add guests, handle payments, complete questionnaires, and add or share events to their calendars.





Chatroom
Beyond events, Heylo supported topics and event chatrooms for member interaction. I redesigned the chatroom layout to accommodate new features—emojis, photo uploads, polls, @mentions, roles—and improved the visual design and user experience.





Social Media
As a social platform, Heylo added features for members and leaders to share event-generated images directly to Instagram. I led the research and design for how users interact with and share these photos on both desktop and mobile.




Ai Image
Based on data and leader feedback, many events lacked quality cover images. To address this, we integrated AI-generated images, allowing users to create improved event visuals from short prompts, making events more engaging and appealing within each group.

App Store
With the app’s rebrand and new features, we redesigned the App Store screenshots to reflect Heylo’s fresh look, build trust, and strengthen brand identity for users.
